Oh, crap! Was that today?

Side note: I would love to see more of ReGan’s works and be able to attribute this comic to him/her.  If you know who this person is, please tell me!

Regan has actually left a comment below. He is an artist for Hallmark out of Kansas City.  If you would like to see more work, check out the ShoeBox Blog where his work is featured often.

Hi. I’m the Regan in question. I’m an artist in the Shoebox division of Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City and did this cartoon for a greeting card. Glad you enjoyed it. The card is available now at a Hallmark store near you! And if you’d like to contact Hallmark and demand that they give me a raise, feel free.

Thanks for commenting on the post about your comic. I am glad to be able to give credit where it is due on this, as it has probably been passed around 1mil emails without proper attribution.

I have recently started my own travel business and would like to use the “Oh Crap Was That Today?” cartoon along with my business information on some promotional items. Please contact me in this regard.

Seeing as how this cartoon is under the ownership of Hallmark, you may want to contact their Shoebox division for permission

Dan, thanks so much for providing the details on this amazing cartoon. My brother and I have been passing an “elephant never forgets” belated birthday card back and forth for years. It seems to have gone astray and he has a birthday coming up this week. I’m running right out to Hallmark to purchase one with your design…or maybe I’ll take my time so it will be late arriving. Thanks for such an awesome card design…I’ll be sure to let Hallmark know and demand that raise for you. Sandy Allen

I was looking specifically for this cartoon, but in my minds eye it looked a little different and was in a New Yorker at some point within the past year . . . . either my memory is bad or this was reprinted. Can someone tell me what New Yorker this was in (sometime in 2009 or early 2010). I thought it was “Holy Crap Was that today.”

Mary – Dan Regan is the artist, and he has commented on this post previously to say that this was a hallmark card. He would probably know the best if and when this was in a New Yorker article.

You may try giving him a shout at shoeboxblog.com.

Dan ~ My sister forwarded your Hallmark card picture to me (Story of my life….. Oh, Crap! Was that TODAY?). It’s perfect. I absolutely love it. Every time I look at it, I enjoy it just as much as I did when I first saw it. I hope Hallmark realizes how valuable you are to them. You deserve a raise for this one. I plan to check out Shoeboxblog.com. Thank you. ~ Nancy

  • Jean Regan Bates!

What a clever cartoon! This has been passed to me multiple times and it continues to bring smiles! My maiden name is Regan and I proudly claim kinship to the cartoonist! He gets my vote for Hallmark’s best!
    Hope he gets that raise!

This Cartoon (cut out from somewhere – it’s in color) has been hanging in our mail room here at work for a few years now. It never fails to make me smile when I see it. I just went online to see if I could get another color copy of it to hang in my cubicle because I’m usually a little scattered and it fits in with my decor, and in so doing, stumbled on this site. So – kudos! to Dan Regan for making so many people smile. Its nice when you can give someone credit for a good thing.

I would like to see more work from you. Thanks Dan for making people smile thru your work. I attached the signature block of my email and so everybody gets this when they gets an email from me. EVERYBODY loves it! It’s adorable!
It also raises good question from my point of view…such as “are you ready, Jesus is coming quickly” because from what I know Biblical, “”When the Son of Man comes again, it will be exactly like the days of Noah.” The church will be lifted off from the earth and devastation will fill the land.
